When it comes to the products we choose to use in our home, it's very important to make sure they are safe not only for us and the environment, but also for our pets. As a general rule of thumb, candles made of paraffin wax, with a synthetic or lead based wick, and fragrances containing parabens and phthalates are harmful for both you and your pet. There have been some cases recorded in which scented candles releasing phthalates while burning have caused serious issues with the endocrine system, aggravated asthma and respiratory disease as well as altering hormone levels.

While the scents used in Terradomi candles are safe for dogs and other pets, some scented candles are made with synthetic fragrance that release toxins such as phthalates and naphthalene, which could aggravate respiratory sensitivities and illnesses such as asthma. Also, many essential oils are toxic for pets and should be avoided- tea tree oil, cinnamon, citrus, peppermint, pine, wintergreen, ylang ylang, juniper & eucalyptus especially when used in diffusers, directly on skin or ingested.

Candles Safe for Pets

While some scented products should be avoided for you and your pet's health, at Terradomi Candle Co. all of our scents are free of essential oils that may be toxic for pets, parabens and phthalates and our candles are always made using an all natural soy wax and a 100% cotton wick for a clean and long lasting burn. Please ensure you are following the burning instructions for your candle, to ensure an optimal and safe burn!

Also, since our fur babies have a much more sensitive sense of smell (dogs possess up to 300 million olfactory receptors in their noses, compared to about six million in humans), at Terradomi Candle Co. we are committed to creating gentle, non toxic and slow releasing fragrances to be enjoyed by everyone in your family, including your pets!
